After buying the Smellington Piff EP off BVA at the High Focus Records 4th Birthday party merch stall last year, I have been wanting more from Mr.Piff. There's something about his approach to hip hop and his outlook on life, that I just love.

Not more than a year after the EP's release, Smellington is back with his debut 17 track solo album titled 'Notice Of Eviction' a project entirely produced by Leaf Dog.
The album starts with a... well, Notice Of Eviction, a rather humorous skit that sets the scene. If you didn't already know, Smellington is a traveller, he lives in a caravan, but that will become apparent when you listen to the album.
"I'm feeling beautifully ugly, uncomfortably content"
... 'Opposites Attract', is the first track to kick off the album, with a hook that will firmly embed in your brain. Leading into End Of Discussion, Leaf Dogs beat drops, immediately making your head nod (that won't stop). I was kind of smiling to myself, after just two tracks, it was evident how great this album was going to be.

Leaf Dogs production on this track alone is superb, with heart wrenching strings matching honest lyrics. Smellington is telling us about his life as a traveller, in the most sincere way.
"If home 's where the heart is, I live on my sleeve. I represent where I'm from and speak for what I believe"
As we delve further into the album, we hear features from Cracker Jon, Jack Jetson, Eric The Red, Leaf Dog and BVA on track 'The Base'. Rag N Bone Man features on 'Authentic Fakes', injecting pure soul with his flawless vocals on the hook.

Smellington also teams up with High Focus' Fliptrix and Verb T on track 80 Degrees and LIFE MC on 'After The Storm', the Alaskan bath salts skit, is absolutely hilarious, I was in stitches! If those features alone weren't enough, he tops it off by adding Bill Shakes and Lee Scott to the list.
Showcasing some of the best in UK Hip Hop on his debut album, is quite impressive to say the least. Although Mr.Piff has been involved in the music scene since he was named DJ Welly, spinning techno at the tender age of six, this album is going to get him noticed and it won’t be an eviction we are serving him with. Leaf Dogs signature production shines throughout this project and that deserves recognition.
