CAPPO - UNICRON PROD. STEALF - De Facto Entertainment 2014

Nottingham based Cappo has been part of the UK Hip-Hop scene for little under two decades. From his first live show back in 97' to now, he never fails to impress. Each release is unique and he's not afraid to challenge the unknown.

Now, Cappo is back, with the brilliantly titled Unicron. A 5 track E.P produced by the ever impressing Stealf. The E.P includes a special remix of the lead single SM58 Live Rounds by legendary producer Evil Ed.

For those of you that have no clue what a Unicron is, it's a character from Transformers. If Sci-Fi films aren't really your thing, the track titles may go over your heads a little, but that's the beauty of great wordplay, it works even if you don’t get the original reference.

So, here's why the name of this E.P is great. Unicron is known as the destroyer. He brings chaos and his soul purpose is consuming the universe. He has the ability to give lesser beings immense powers, but only in exchange for their servitude. We all know there's no such thing as a free lunch and these now slaves, are often stripped of their own free will, thus causing loss of self and eventually becoming insane.

Enter Cappo...

Cappo is intelligent in the way he writes, with clever wordplay and metaphors that make his ability seem effortless. Teaming up with Stealf was a great choice. The self-proclaimed sampling advocate, can take you to a different dimension alone, there are so many levels to his beats.

I'm not going to give you a run down of the tracks individually, as I really want you to go and listen to the E.P. Although only 4 tracks long, 5 including Evil Ed's epic remix, there is so much to take on board. Quantize and SM58 Live Rounds, are my favourite tracks, yet I don't think I could listen to those two, without listening to the others. That's like reading a book and skipping chapters, you just don't do it!
