Anthony Mayson (26) is an up and coming rapper hailing from Parbold, Lancashire, UK.

This self-proclaimed stoner, goes by the name 420 Musik. Although he has only been rapping for two years, this isn't apparent when listening to his stuff. His impressive back catalogue sees him sitting rather comfortably over his chosen beats.

420's first project was Finally Woken Up, a mixtape consisting of 22 tracks available on his Soundcloud.

Earlier this year, 420 dropped 4:20AM. Although his second release, he redeems it to be his first serious project.

After deciding on a concept and opting for that classic boom bap sound, 420 began compiling instrumentals by Pro.P and BluBeatz, two producers he rates highly.

420 has worked with Blubeatz several times previously. A stand out track for me is, The Wisdom Tree. Although the track is no longer being released, the animated net video is still available on the 420 Musik YouTube channel.

4:20AM consists of 12 tracks that take you on a journey through the inner thoughts and mind process of a 'Stoner'.

The whole 'love affair with Mary Jane' concept, is a bit played out and can become somewhat boring, but this is not the case when it comes to 420.

Your stereotypical Stoner is depicted as being lazy, baring no other thought than where to get their next smoke from. This of course is complete bullshit and 420 proves that.

After a lightening speed, 10 second intro, we hear Blubeatz string heavy instrumental kick in and 420 explains to us how he is going to try and make it alone, he doesn’t need No Agent Or P.R.

Moving onto Circulate, another instrumental from Blubeatz featuring Potter, a member of 'The Office' a crew from Leeds. Other features on the E.P come from friend Hydef, Uncle Paulie, Manchester based Legal Eyez and Plain & Simple from the No Ego crew (Birmingham).

I really enjoyed this E.P. The chosen instrumentals by Blubeatz and Pro.P are definitely my thing.

The random, hilarious snippets are slotted in, with perfect timing and had me laughing throughout.

420's honest observations, told through his lyrics, make me feel like I now know him that little bit more.

Anthony Mayson is slowly getting faded and 420 Musik is emerging through the clouds of smoke, a bit like Stars In Their Eyes, but without Matthew Kelly.

If he carries on the way he is, he will be tearing up those festival stages, very soon.

I have no doubt about that!
