After what seems like an eternity, I'm exaggerating slightly, Fliptrix is back with the incredible conceptual piece that is 'Polyhymnia'

This full length album is something Fliptrix fans have been waiting for and believe me, they are going to be blown away!

Fliptrix is a man that needs no introduction to Global Tree, a bit like myself, he had an idea and went with it, but on a much larger scale!

As the Founder of High Focus Records, he has firmly secured his place in history, people will remember this guy for bringing UK Hip-Hop back and putting it firmly on the map. This is the first review I have done on Global Tree for Fliptrix, but it definitely won't be the last!

Fliptrix has never been one to hold back when it comes to expressing new ideas and concepts. I think that's why he's a favourite of mine. He always thinks Out The Box, he carries a message, one of love, togetherness and unity. Many use the term 'Real' and they would be correct, but I prefer the term 'aware'

High Focus have been teasing us since August, making 3 out of the 14 tracks available on iTunes. Each track comes with 2 B-Sides that are equally epic. The tracks are also accompanied by some rather brilliant videos you can now see on

The first to be released was 'Vultures' with B-side tracks, Flashbacks & Caesarean.

Have you ever sat listening to someone speak and you just smile because everything is that spot on, you need not enter a statement of approval? well this track has that exact momentum. The beat by Molotov is a straight drop kick to the face with that heavy bass! Fliptrix opens by saying "Goodbye" but don’t be worried, farewells are usually sad and upsetting, not this time!

"I feel the change getting closer, the mainstream held the reigns,

now we're taking over"

"Death to the fakeness, rise in the realness,

commercialism had its day, but now I'll kill this"

The second single to be released, accompanied by a rather fascinating video by Sam Cox, was 'Praise The Sun' featuring Rag N Bone Man. Sam created the animation by processing and placing together 1,800 hand drawn frames, each coloured and scanned individually. Something that took a whopping 2000 hours to create, was then narrowed down into a 210 second animation. Was it worth it? I think so!

and thirdly we have 'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow' a beautifully directed piece by Above Ground Media. I'm not going to give you a break down of the track just yet, but I will say it's a favourite of mine.

So don't just buy Polyhymnia, if you can, buy the singles too and don't miss out on those exclusive B-sides!

I have to admit, when I finally sat down to listen to Polyhymnia, I was anxious. I don't mean anxious in a bad way, I was excited, was I ready for what was inside? a bit like Pandora I suppose, curiosity got the better of me, but instead of unleashing pain and suffering, I was about to unleash greatness!

We start off with 'Jeheeze' … jeheeze indeed! That classic boombap beat, laced with fast flows and honesty. You can tell when Molotov teams up with Runone, they create such wizardry.

Leading into the previously mentioned 'Praise The Sun' featuring Rag N Bone Man, who is absolutely smashing it at the minute! If you haven't heard Wolves, you need to do that now, well after you've read the review!

"I couldn't of written this, without no photosynthesis"

Fliptrix is literally giving praise to The Sun, as without it, we'd be pretty buggered wouldn't we? If you were an eskimo, sat inside an igloo, this track would warm you up in an instant.

The title track 'Polyhymnia' is next up.

Now if you aren't familiar with Greek Mythology, Polyhymnia is one of the 9 Muses. She was one of 9 daughters, created by Zeus and Mnemosyne to disremember the evil and remove the sorrow after defeating the Titans. Ironic how they were created in order for people to forget, when their Mother was the Goddess of Memory!

The 9 Muses were in charge of the Arts and Sciences, they punished those that questioned their power and rewarded those that believed.

Polyhymnia was the protector of sacred hymns and Fliptrix dedicates this track to her.

"Where inspiration comes to write heat, she made the dreams arise in my sleep"

'Here Today, Gone Tomorrow' was at first my favourite. That phrase couldn’t be more true. I came home to news that a friends Sister had died, I went upstairs, checked my email and there was one from High Focus announcing this track had been released. I pressed play on the video link and as it played, tears rolled down my cheek. It sounds made up, it isn't, I don't cry easily. This track is a prime example of how relevant and spot on Fliptrix really is. He just doesn't understand what's going on in the world and why it's full of hatred. The word beat sounds too aggressive for this divine piece of music that has the power to evoke such emotions. Molotov excels himself.

"Governments prioritising money over people,

this needs to cease to make our living status here equal"

Fliptrix is like a hammer, he always hits the nail on the head!

There's a saying that goes

"If Horses could draw, they'd draw their Gods as Horses"

So, if we were to ask the criminally talented artist,

Jonny Packham to draw his Gods...

Well, this would happen...

This final chapter in the three part saga showcases Fliptrix at his best. Of course he called on the Parliament and the legend that is Chester. P, for feature verses, it had to be done!

Praise not only The Sun, but praise Molotov and Runone, for they have become masters of inspiration themselves, Muses if you will!

Having been awoken by the Eye Of The Storm and exploring the roads of the Piff Highway, I feel content in knowing Polyhymnia is just around the corner!
