Theo Cane Garvey (25) is an Independent Film Director from Sheffield.

Having left school and going straight into college to study graphic design , he's always been a busy guy.

Being born in the 80's Theo is majorly into the old school action movies and he's always adding classics to his ever growing dvd collection. His love of these films certainly comes across in his work.

Theo picked up a camera and started making short films as a past time. he got to use the gory effects and weaponry he loved and it soon became a major part of his life.

I first came across Theo as a fan of Don't Flop. Don't Flop is a rap battle league, which you enter to compete against other MCs. Theo, known as Psychosis Holochaust to the music and rap battle world, is rather good at bringing people down a peg or two...

My personal favourite of Theo's battles is against American battler, Madness. Here he combined his lyrical skill, with his love of film, in the first Movie Bar battle which took place at Don't Flops 4th Birthday event.

Liking his style and being a 'fan' of Theo's, I followed him on his YouTube channel Prison Planet Records and that's when I realised he wasn't just a rapper that entered the field of battle occasionally, he was also a Director.

As I said previously, Theo has already got a few short films under his belt, but he also has another interest, graffiti!

Coming from Sheffield, a place globally known for its influx of graffiti, Theo knows where all the best spots are and one day he decided to take his camera with him. Graffiti, to some, is just mess. It's like a toddler drawing on a freshly painted magnolia wall with a poster pen. To others, it's art, some of which is rather amazing.

I'm also a fan of graffiti and as I walk around my home town I recognise certain tags and works. Like the differences in Monet and Picasso, each Graffiti artist has their own signature.

Theo captured all these epic pieces and traced down a few of the featured artists. He then put all the footage together to make 'Sheffield Graffiti Kingdom' if you were lucky enough to get a hardcopy, I envy you, for the rest of us it's available to stream courtesy of Deranged Industries.

Being an independent film director means just that, you are independent. There isn't anybody holding your hand or giving you company credit cards. It's all up to you, unless you're very lucky.

Every penny Theo has right now is going into his work. I say work, but it's clear this isn't work for him, this is fun! You can see it in his face, he's in his element when on set, he loves every single aspect, he'll tell you that himself!

Theo is now working on 'Unit Eleven' his days consist of making phone calls, calling in favours and even picking up a needle and thread when costume making. Like I said, he's responsible for every single aspect. Wether that be arranging taxis, building a fort or simply being empathetic to those individuals helping him on their own free will.

Theo is one man, he can't afford to pay those helping him. Luckily he has some rather lovely people amongst his ranks that don't mind that, but you can tell it plays on his mind and holds him back.

If you've ever seen one of Theo's films, you'll know he's not one to slack, so imagine if he had some crazy ass budget to work with, I'm gonna work on that! ;)
